You can book your functional skills test and complete the exam online in the comfort of your own home.



What does this exactly mean?

Remote exams are given in the comfort of your own home using virtual classroom technology. This means you can do your exam on your own. There will be an invigilator who is watching you via webcam to make sure you are following the exam guidelines. You won't have to sit in a room with other people to take your exam.

Before taking your exam, you will be provided with a handbook covering all the rules and regulations you need to follow to make your exam as fair as possible.

 

Functional Skills English and Maths Level 1 & 2 Exam Online: What’s  included

Functional Skills are suitable to help learners equip with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to operate confidently, effectively, and independently in life, study and work. They teach basic skills in English, Maths and ICT that are often required while studying any vocational qualifications.

Functional Skills Qualifications are widely recognised as a GCSE equivalent, and accepted by employers and most colleges and universities.

Functional Skills exams are available at English and Maths Level 1 and 2 and approved by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) – the awarding body who regulate qualifications, examinations, and assessments in England.

 A qualification in Functional Skills Maths Level 1 and 2 will demonstrate the ability to calculate with fractions, decimals, and percentages, how to create tables and charts, how to use metric measurement and how to work out averages, amongst other things. Learners will be able to apply these skills effectively to a range of purposes in the workplace and in real life situations.

A qualification in Functional Skills English Level 1 and 2 will demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, listen, and communicate in English. Learners will be able to apply these skills effectively to a range of purposes in the workplace and in real life situations.

What are the requirements for taking Functional Skills exam online?

The basic requirement for taking functional skills exam online is laptop/computer (Tablets not allowed), a good internet connection and a webcam.

Once you are exam ready, contact your learning adviser to book the test for you. We recommend booking the test at least 2 weeks prior to your intended exam date to avoid disappointment.
